Previous owner's inscription to front pastedown. Water staining to bottom edge of first few pages, text remains unaffected. Boards have light shelf-wear with corner bumping. Light sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Wear marks overall.

Front hinge is cracked with exposed netting and cracks to guttering with exposed netting. Boards have visible sunning and rubbing. Minor bumping to corners and fair crushing to spine ends. Heavier sunning to spine and splitting to rear joint.

Green cloth binding covers clean, spine sunned, rear cover has gentle crease, slight binding lean, tightly bound, text block edges are clean, light foxing to first and last few pages of the volume, the text has minor scattered foxing, o/w, bright clean paper, unmarked. New York: The John Day Company, 1930. Clean and tight and square. Sharp corners. Dark green boards with gold lettering and designs. A little sunning along the edges. A lovely to look at gift inscription on the first page. The dust jacket has a bit of wear and tear and chipping along the edges and a slightly darkened spine. A few spots of soiling on the lighter colored background and two spots of faded hand-written numbers on the front. The jacket is price clipped and is in new mylar. An interesting piece of ephemera dated 1931 also included.. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Natural Science.
