Nice condition set of "The Life of CHARLOTTE BRONTE" - Author of "Jane Eyre," "Shirley," "Villette," &c. by E.C. (Elizabeth) Gaskell. 1857 1st American edition; D. Appleton and Company; New York. Complete in 2 volumes. Volume I features a frontispiece portrait of Bronte, as well as a "Facsimile of a Page of M.S."; Volume II features a frontispiece engraving of "Haworth Church and Parsonage" (the Parsonage being the Bronte family home where the sisters spent most of their lives and wrote their famous novels). With a publisher's catalog at the end of both volumes.

Condition:
Clean covers; there are a few tiny, dark stain specks at the top edges of both spines; 3 of the bottom corner tips have tiny cloth tears. Both volumes are tightly bound with no cracks and no loos pages. Nice pages with only some occasional light foxing; name/date (1858) written in pen on both front pastedowns. Light foxing to the long and bottom edges of the text blocks. Overall a very good condition set.
