London: Richard Phillips, 1803. Two volumes complete - Volume One - xxxvi, 489pp, [3] and Volume Two - vii, [1], 642pp, [32]. Full slightly later calf, raised bands, spines in six panels, later leather title label to second panel, later contrasting colour volume label to third, remaining panels with blind diaper pattern, with small flower head tool towards foot of each lozenge, covers with triple fillet in gilt bordering a flower head roll frame in blind, gilt hatching to board edge corners, blind roll to inner edges, french curl marbled endpapers, all edges marbled. Spines faded, rubbed to extremities, a few scrapes to covers with some minor loss, upper cover of volume one with ink splashings, volume two bumped to foot of spine. Internally some light browning and light foxing, portraits foxed and offset, but generally fairly clean. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Lacks half-titles if called for, with three engraved portraits as called for. Lowndes 905. First Edition. Full Calf. Good. 4to.
