Description

NY: McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1966, First Printing. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. Octavo, hardcover, near fine in lightly edgeworn dj with errata sheet enclosed by publisher re. high court action, and his heart attack. It was at Goldeneye, the house he had built in Jamaica, that Ian Fleming established the fantasy world in which James Bond was born. He was forty-two when he tapped out Casino Royale-and began the greatest international hero-worship cult since Sherlock Holmes. It was the turning point of his career, but it had come tragically late. Increasingly, Bond took over his creator who, unable to maintain the pace set by the tough, romantic hero, burnt himself up. Fleming was fifty-six when he died in 1964. 338 pp. including index.
