Moscow: Foreign Languages Publishing House Translated from the Russian by Margaret Whettlin Originally published in Russian in 1910, this English language translation has no publication date. Red leatherette hardcover had gilt titles and decorations on spine and a gilt facsimile signature of the author on front cover. The book has lovely beveled corners. The page proceeding the title page has a black and white photograph of the author laid in over an embossed border on the page. Maxim Gorky (1868 - 1936) was a Russian author who was nominated five times for the Nobel Prize in Literature. Head and heel of spine and bottom corners are bumped and there is a small spot on bottom and tiny spots on outside pages. There are penciled marks on fep and a tacky area where sticker was removed. . Hard Cover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
