Green cloth, original, with fetching cover art(Isidore Diamantstein giving Eva Gonorowsky a comic valentine). Book is edge-worn, edge-foxed and inscribed, but a not-to-be-missed account of a young Irish-born teacher and her charges on New York's East Side at the turn of the century. Full of malapropisms and 17 humourous line drawings. Surprisingly able writing by a young woman who died at only 35. 353 pp..
