The eminent novelist Henry James toured France in the autumn of 1882 and published an account of his travels (without illustrations) in 1884. An illustrated edition appeared in 1900 with 94 watercolors of Joseph Pennell, reproduced in black & white. Nearly a century later, this edition was published, combining the words of James with Pennell's art, color reproductions of magnificent Impressionist paintings, line drawings and attractive color maps of the cities visited. --- In blue paper-covered boards with a color reproductions of Renoir's A view of Cagnes pasted to cover. Jacket with the same Renoir art. --- With prior owner's name inked to textblock fore-edge, else a clean, bright, tightly-bound copy. Unclipped jacket with two small tears, otherwise in excellent shape; protected in clear removable mylar wrapper.; Oblong 12mo (7 to 7-1/2 in. tall); 256 pages .
