Living on the Earth: Celebrations, Storm Warnings, Formulas, Recipes, Rumors, & Country Dances - 1971

by LAUREL, Alicia Bay

  • Used

Description

New York: Vintage, [1971]. Quarto (28cm). Tan paper wrappers; [7],193,[20]pp; line drawings througout, with an entirely calligraphic text. Firm and straight, slightly rubbed, with minor dust and occasional marks to wrappers, internally clean: Very Good. Described by Laurel as "a handwritten guide to bohemian country living illustrated with line drawings," this work was originally written as a guide for fellow residents at the Wheeler Ranch commune in Sonoma County, California (see https://aliciabaylaurel.com/bio/). It was first published in 1970 by the The Bookworks; when that small printing sold out, the title was picked up by Random House, and became the first paperback book to hit the New York Times Bestseller List.
