About This Item

New York: Reynal & Hitchcock, 1947. First edition. Cloth. Near Fine/Very Good Indeed. 7.5" by 5.5". None. A smart first US edition of this literary study from British critic Victor Sawdon Pitchett. First US edition. A survey of English writers considering the novels of the past in terms of their relationships to the present. With strange and wonderful detours, Pritchett's approach to the novel here is that of the reader rather than the critic. Written by Sir Victor Sawdon Pritchett, a British writer and literary critic. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, very smart with minor wear to the extremities. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also very smart with light wear to the extremities and minor sunning to the spine. Ink inscription to the internal side of the wrapper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with minor age toning to the extremities. Contemporary ink inscription to the front pastedown. Near Fine
