About the author

JAMES S. JACOBS is Assistant Professor of Education at Brigham Young University, specializing in children's literature. He is especially fascinated with the Lloyd Alexander genre. At the time this book went to press, he was on sabbatical in Karlsruhe, Germany, teaching at an elementary school on an American military base.

MICHAEL O. TUNNELL is Assistant Professor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Northern Illinois University. He is the author of The Prydain Companion: A Reference Guide to Lloyd Alexander's Prydain Chronicles (Greenwood Press, 1989) and articles in education and literary journals.
