First edition, first printing in two volumes. 188pp/223pp. 1st Edition points confirmed, both volumes with first issue "900 francs" prices and no traces of stickers, 1st volume with no pages 11-12 (this was apparently a blank sheet that was never bound in). Quite a nice set overall, has been protected for a very long time in a custom built clamshell box. Wraps are very bright and colors consistent, no fading. Spine just slightly (and typically) creased. Covers well attached and binding solid, just a slight bit of edgewear and slight bit of wear to the spine edges. Volume 1 has what appears to be a small ink stain on the top edge, mostly just on the surface of the edge and just slighly penetrating down on the the top edge of a few pages. Otherwise interior pages spotless, no markings or writing. Overall a very lovely copy of this fragile edition housed in a somewhat utilitarian but still quiet appealing early clamshell box covered with greenish/tan linen with protective felt interior. The first appearance of Nabokov's controversial novel. .
