George Schuster was the last living member of the winning crew, serving as mechanic and a driver. Their auto was the "Thomas Flyer", an American entry. The French entered 3 autos, and Italy, Germany, and the U.S. each had one. Only 3 would reach Paris. The retelling makes extensive use of archival B&W photos. This volume was dedicated to William Harrah, who restored the Thomas Flyer and put it on display at the Harrah Museum in Reno NV.
