Looking Backward 2000-1887, Bellamy, Edward, The Musson Book Company Ltd. Toronto, 1934. 12mo up to 7½" tall. 245 pages. Red cloth boards, black spine titles. Unclipped art deco dustjacket illustrated by Peacock. Small chips and closed tears to dustjacket; volume has prior owner's name to free endpaper otherwise text block is clean without marks, tears or folds. Binding is firm and boards have light wear only. This is an uncommon edition and will be of interest to collectors of what is considered the most famous nineteenth-century American utopian novel. First published in 1888, Edward Bellamy visualises the trend of events from 1887 to the year 2,000, resulting in a completely nationalised and state-controlled existence.
