A crisp, clean, very good or better copy in the publisher's elaborately illustrated staples wrappers. Rubbed along the spine, and with mild dust-soiling to extremities. This pamphlet is a kind of general update on the then-booming city of Los Angeles during the rise of Hollywood and all of the growth and change that came along with it to this once-sleepy desert town. Packed on almost every page with illustrations from photographs and diagrams of various districts and their natural resources. A great piece of early 20th century Californiana.

Octavo (9 x 4 inch) Los Angeles: Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, 1924. Paper promotional advertising pamphlet folded twice to form eight panels printed on both sides, illustrated with halftone black and white photos of Mt. Lowe, a California Mission, a view of an automobile traveling through "mountains and valleys," a young lady posing with Southern California flowers, a "Typical Southern California Hotel;" and an idealized composite image, in black and white, on the covers - of a passenger ship docking, a beach scene and a view of a valley with snow capped peaks in the background - all overseen by a young lady perched on some rocks. Original, very good condition.

"Los Angeles County As A Summer and Winter Resort," with a description of roads, street car rides, an interurban trip via Pacific Electric Railway or Auto Bus, attractions, hotels and apartments, railroads and depots; and what it all costs.

Color cover art work by Arthur Beaumont (1890-1978) a Los Angeles-based watercolor artist and commercial artist best known for his maritime scenes. Includes short descriptions of major attractions Los Angeles, suggestions for excursions to the San Fernando Valley, San Gabriel Valley. Antelope Valley, Orange County, Pasadena, Long Beach, Beach Cities, Riverside, Palm Springs, Imperial Valley, San Diego, etc., and some information on lodging and transportation. Tiny staple holes at the outer margins, covers lightly rubbed, else a very good copy.
