Hardcover bound in quarter tan cloth with grey paper-covered boards and the remains of the original grey dust jacket. Light to moderate wear to the binding. The boards show some browning and foxing, likely from the remains of the dust jacket. The front and rear panels and turn-ins of the jacket remain. The front panel of the jacket has a couple of glass rings as well as a 3 1/2inch tear on the fore edge near the bottom corner. This tear has some old and failed tape repairs and a large accompanying crease. There is also a paper label on the front panel of the jacket from the Medici Society noting this Cloth binding version originally cost 2 Pounds, 12 Shillings, 6 d. A curious 1976 leaflet entitled The Grant Getter's Gazette by Michael Weiner is laid in. Unmarked copy with a bit of reading wear (front cover has some printing offset, as observed with other copies).

The first edition of this selection, and the first with these magnificent Reynolds Stone engravings. 4to. 94pp. One of 300 copies (out of a total edition of 350) designed by Will Carter, printed on Basingwerk parchment, bound in buckram and signed by Reynolds Stone. Stone contributes a title page decoration, five wood engraved plates and a small closing vignette; plus a small gilt decoration to upper board. Buckram just fractionally marked in one or two places, else a fine copy. No dust wrapper, as issued. Twenty-three poems (including the eleven-parter 'Flying Scrolls'), six of which are hitherto unprinted with several others making their first bookform appearance..

Portrait frontispiece of the author (from a sketch by Wyndham Lewis). A hint of fading to the backstrip, and just a touch of bruising to the spine ends. Half-title spotted, with a touch of further very light spotting to the title page and two blank rear flyleaves. Very good indeed, albeit lacking the most uncommon dust wrapper.
