Description

New York: Hastings House, 1941. First edition. Hardcover. Good +/good +. 746pp. Octavo [21 cm] Green cloth over boards with red ink lettering on the backstrip and front board. The spine is rolled, and a bit faded. There are a few small stains on the top edge of the text block. The text block is cracked at the title page. In a price-clipped dust jacket, which has a number of small losses and thin tears to the edges and folds. The largest tear, which is to the head of the spine, obscures a little bit of the title. Compiled by Workers of the Writers' Program of the Work Projects Administration in the State of Louisiana. From the dust jacket- "Here is Louisiana for you- its swamps and bayous, its cane and cottonfields, its people and their history. Sixty-four pages of gravure illustrations and many maps take you 'up and down and all around' in this natural wonderland- into Creole kitchens, down the streets of New Orleans during Mardi Gras, and into the deep, dark cypress swamps.
