About the author

Amy Hackney Blackwell is an attorney and writer. She holds a JD from the University of Virginia School of Law, an MA in history from Vanderbilt University, and an AB from Duke University. Her past occupations include various teaching jobs -- LSAT test-prep, paralegal training, and two years of teaching English in Japan on the JET Program; several years as a researcher in the UVA Law Library; and a stint as a theatrical technician and lighting designer. Oh, yes, and she is a member of the South Carolina Bar and worked as a lawyer for several years, but doesn't do that now. Her writing credits include Mythology For Dummies (written with her husband, Christopher W. Blackwell, and published by the folks bringing you this volume), The Everything Book of Irish History and Heritage (Adams Media, 2004), and The Essential Dictionary of Law (Barnes & Noble Books, 2004).
