About This Item
E-343: Greenberg. Very Good in Very Good- dust jacket. 1956. First Edition; First Printing. Hardcover. Hardcover. 8vo. Published by Greenberg Publisher, New York, 1956. 284 pgs. First Edition/First Printing. DJ has shelf-wear present to the DJ extremities (DJ is lightly chipped and worn to the top edge of the front panel of the DJ). Bound in cloth boards with titles present to the spine and front board. Boards have light shelf-wear present to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. Incredible but true are these early fo'c'sle adventures of the author, who ran away from his native Copenhagen for a life at sea at the turn of the century. They cover his ten years spent aboard square riggers--Danish, German, and Norwegian clipper ships. Three times he rounded Cape Horn, at one time being cast away for several tortured weeks before he was rescued. Life before the mast aboard a sailing ship around 1900 was hazardous, brutal and fraught with danger. The bizarre experiences encountered by the author are almost unbelievable, and it is a minor miracle that he lived through them all to tell this tale of the life and loves of a windjammer sailor. EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall; 284 pages .
