West Drayton, Middlesex: Puffin Picture Book, 1111. Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall. Van Leer. Puffin Picture Book Number 49 (of 80). Not dated - believed to be circa 1950. Edition and printing not known. In good quarter black cloth and decorated grey and black thick card - not publisher's original. The covers are loose to front, edge-won and a little marked.The original covers are inside with colour image of miner with shovel over his shoulder to front - very good condition; clean and firm. Mid blue end papers attached to the boards, faded around edges; red names on front free end paper. The text block is in good plus condition, with colour and b/w lithographs by Van Leer. The pages are a little loose; with some grubby marks; small tear from tail edge throughout Age-toned cut edges. Not inscribed etc. Not paginated. Issued without jacket. The boards and end papers could be removed and revert to paperback as originally published.

About Clevedon Community Bookshop
Clevedon Community Bookshop, co-operatively owned, opened on 31 December 2011 and now has a general stock of approximately 20,000 books. Our bookshop in Copse Road is open Tuesday to Sunday from 11.00am to 4.00pm. The co-operative comprises just over 600 members from around the world and was set up to stop the only second-hand bookshop in our town from closing. The benefit of being a member/shareholder is only social: no-one benefits financially. All profits are used to improve the bookshop and its stock, and, through events, to contribute to the literacy and literary profile of our town.
