About This Item

New York: Atheneum, 1984. Book. Illus. by Deborah Chabrian (dust jacket illustration). Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Upset with her family's near-obsession with her older sister's wedding, a teen-aged girl does not tell them that she has won a gold medal in a state piano contest, nor that she has been awarded a scholarship to a prestigious music college. When the bride-to-be is given an expensive diamond-and-ruby pin, the younger sister hides it as a prank, then learns that it is no longer in its hiding place, precipitating a family crisis. Very scarce in this condition. Red cloth w/gilt lettering to front cover/spine, 158 pages. Light wear to corners/spine ends, two tiny soil marks to front free end paper, slight toning, internally tight. Price-clipped dust jacket w/light edgewear, light rubbing, thin impressions, 3/8" tear to bottom edge of rear panel. An okay copy of a very collectible book..
