Oxenham, one of the latest titles in the original run of her Abbey series. The first edition of this novel.This work is one of only three novels in Oxenham's series to be published by the Girls Own Paper Office [G.O.P], a British paper catered to young girls.Illustrated with a colour frontispiece. Oxenham, alongside Elinor Brent-Dyer and Dorita Fairlie Bruce, was amongst the 'Big Three' women authors of children's books that pioneered the popular 'school-girl' genre.With the former owner's inscription of J. Coast to the front free endpaper. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with light fading to back strip. Light spotting to text block fore edge. Rear hinge a touch strained, but firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with only the odd spot. Very Good
