The collection includes historical material on towns and churchs in Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, including Boothbay, Camden and Wells, Newburyport, Salem, Andover Center and Hampton, among other places. Includes A Historical Sketch of Charlestown. Boston, 1814; A Topographical and Historical Sketch of Epsom, New Hampshire. Pittsfield, N.H., 1885, Josiah Coffin Papers (Coffin was a historian of Newbury, Mass), and The Fire Clubs of Salem. Also one T.L.S. from the author of an historical sketch. Of interest are the historical discourses on the First Congregational Church of Boothbay, Maine and on the Old South Meeting House of Newburyport, Massachusetts, both biographical source material for Rev. From the library of Francis Greene, historian and author of the History of Boothbay, Southport, and Boothbay Harbor, Maine, the definitive history of the Boothbay region, which has a full account of Murray's activities. Some of these must have been primary sources for Greene in the writing of his history. With his bookplate on the rear pastedown and his stamp on the top right corner of the first page of each publication, else VG.
