Paris: Editions Bourrelier Et Colin, 1967. Fifth Corrected Edition. A book of poetry. Signed presentation from Careme on the half-title page (in green ink), to Deborah Steinthal: "en souvenir de sa premiere visitea la maison blanche [In remembrance of her first visit to the white house], Maurice Careme, 1970." Also, with a second presentation by Favril (unable to determine who this is): "Pour Deborah Steinthal, Te lenchbrasse sur les deux joues [Kiss on both cheeks], Favril." Also, with a with a 5.5 by 7.25-inch black & white photograph of Careme, inscribed "Pour Deborah, Maurice Careme." Also with publisher's printed text correction tipped to page 39. Maurice Carême [1899-1978] was a Belgian francophone poet, best known for his simple writing style and children's poetry. His work was part of the literature event in the art competition at the 1928 Summer Olympics. Carême began publishing in the mid1920's with the collection of verses The Mansion (1926). Originally a teacher, he has devoted himself to literature since 1943. Pastoral scenes of his Homeland, philosophical meditations, opposition to war, and love are Carême's favorite themes. He also writes poetry and tales for children, fables, and parables and translates poetry. 8vo., printed white wraps;146 pages. Very Good (tiny tear bottom of front covers that has a small interior repair with clear, archival tape; few rear pages with minor damage from cutting the sheets; contents clean & tight).
