About This Item
Glendale, CA: Trans-Anglo Books / TAB, 1986. First edition First printing. Hardcover. Fine/Fine. Inscribed on the title page by Wurm to Bob Searles, "For Bob Searle with very good wish. Ted Wurm, Sept. 10, 1986." Also laid in is a hand written, signed letter from Wurm to Searle. Bob Searle was a rail fan and railroad photographer since his youth. Many of his photographs have been used and credited in numerous railroad books. Operating from 1861 until 1955, the Caspar Lumber Company's mill at Caspar was supplied with timber for 75 of those years by the company's own private standard gauge railroad. It operated with a fascinating array of motive power over the lightest of rail, crossing streams on tall timber trestles, bringing huge redwood logs to the mill. The company also operated a fleet of coastal schooners, both sail and steam. 134 pages with rare photographs, foldout map, dimentional diagrams, rosters, bibliography and index. Fine in fine and bright dust jacket.
