From Crab Okra Gumbo to Fried Oysters and Yams Louisiane to Beignets de Pommes, more than three hundred recipes fill the pages of this culinary classic. The savory dishes you create will tantalize your taste buds while the homespun homilies will have your vocal chords humming. Simple and practical, Mandy's Favorite Louisiana Recipes brings Creole cookin' straight from the kitchens of Louisiana to your table.

Born in 1890, Natalie V. Scott became an advocate for New Orleans cuisine and culture. She was a renowned journalist who served as a Red Cross nurse and translator during World Wars I and II. Scott was awarded the Croix de Guerre, France's highest medal for bravery, for her efforts to rescue patients from the bombed medical building where she worked. She is the author of Gourmet's Guide to New Orleans: Creole Cookbook and 200 Years of New Orleans Cooking. These invaluable resources for authentic New Orleans cuisine are both available from Firebird Press. Her biography Natalie Scott: A Magnificent Life, by John W. Scott, is published by Pelican.
