Rear cover blindstamped; spine blindstamped with author's name and title compartment decorated in gilt; top cover stamped and decorated in gilt. Boards rubbed with notable wear to corners, lightly soiled. Foxing to fore-edge. Previous owner's small sticker to foot of front-pastdown; in memoriam stamp of same owner to title page and dedication page. Faint erasure to head of title page. Fold-out frontispiece present, curled at edge, foxing. Maps present, but in poor condition; map p.64 detached and laid-in. Numerous plates present and clean.
