Hardy was a Maine fur trader and the father of Fannie Hardy Eckstorm. A collection of Hardy's articles and essays on the Maine woods and its inhabitants, including a 78 page biographical sketch of Hardy by Krohn. With photographs, maps and illustrations. Articles range from two long works about trips in the North Woods of Maine to shorter articles about caribou, cougar, lynx, moose, sea mink (extinct), and other wildlife species. Many were first published in Forest and Stream and Shooting and Fishing; others were first published in scientific journals. Includes annotated bibliography of Hardy's published works, footnotes, and index. Fine
