The boards are bumped & lightly soiled with the paper chipped at the corners & on the front edge of the rear cover. The spine & joints have been repaired with tape & there is a large piece out of the head of the spine. [xv] pages & [1] leaf plus 6 color plates & 154 pages of black-and- white illustrations. The top corner of the front endpaper has been excised. The rear hinge is starting & there is some very light foxing & soiling to the edges. Good working copy. <p>Third edition, enlarged.<p>Presentation copy inscribed by the author to the Rockefeller Foundation on the flyleaf and signed in full.
