Brown blind stamped cloth, titles stamped in gold gilt on the front cover and spine, 244 pp., preface, illustrated mostly from photographs, knots, tables. War Department Document No. 565. Numerous full-page photographs of Army mules that demonstrate the proper way to pack various types of cargo and how to secure the load by using proper stacking methods and the correct ropes and knots to ensure that the load is secure and safe. In addition all sorts of information is provided regarding the proper care of pack animals, the proper gait to use in various situations, equipment, and how to transport just about anything. Lightly rubbed at spine ends and former owner's name stamp to front fly leaf and rear pastedown sheet, else a near fine clean, square copy.
