Still in the original shrinkwrap, this book is a handsome dark red leather Collector's Edition of one of Bradbury's most important works, signed by the author on the signature page. A series of short stories describing the first attempts of Earth people to conquer and colonize Mars. Originally published in 1950 and in 1979 NBC and the BBC partnered to produce a three-part miniseries based on the book starring Rock Hudson and Darren McGavin. From the Easton Press "The Masterpieces of Science Fiction" series. Includes Collector's Note. In fine red leather, the book is new, in the original shrinkwrap Includes the "Collector's Note" from Easton Press. A beautiful copy.
Synopsis
The Martian Chronicles is a 1950 science fiction short story collection by Ray Bradbury that chronicles the colonization of Mars by humans fleeing from a troubled and eventually atomically devastated Earth, and the conflict between aboriginal Martians and the new colonists. The book lies somewhere between a short story collection and an episodic novel, containing stories Bradbury originally published in the late 1940s in science fiction magazines.
