Bright, crisp, clean, glossy laminated, gilt colour background with b/w Crime Club logo to top of front panel and b/w lettering, rear panel with the other 11 titles from this series advertised to rear panel; with negligible shelf-wear or creasing to edges and corners - no nicks or tears present.Top edges with inevitable but very light dust-soiling and toning and minimal sporadic foxing/spotting, fore-edges bright and clean with similar but less foxing/spotting; contents crisp, bright, tight, clean, solid and sound - pristine - no dog-ear reading creases to any pages' corners, appears unread - apart from my own collation.Bright,crisp,clean,sharp-cornered,publisher's original green+ black mottled faux leather (rexine?) boards with bright, crisp, stamped gilt Crime Club logo to front board within a single-line edge border and bright, crisp, stamped gilt letters to spine/backstrip and immaculate plain white endpapers.UK,8vo HB+dw/dj,1st edn,12-224pp [paginated] includes 33 chapters; plus [unpaginated] story's precis to half-title page, title page and an introduction by Julian Symons and an author's note. Dr Martin West arrived on the tropical island colony of Fontego to take up an important post.He was to be in charge of the leprosarium and its five hundred patients on the neighbouring island of Tacri. As such,he would be responsible to Dr Adam Garland, head of the Health Department in Fontego and described as 'the best Health Secretary we've had in my time'.Martin had every intention of co-operating with the able Dr Garland, but he was soon caught up in a clash of personalities and a maze of violent events. As the colony threw itself wholeheartedly into a brilliant and colourful fiesta,a masked murderer struck and Dr Garland's Negro assistant was killed.A second murder followed, and the girl with whom Martin had fallen in love narrowly escaped becoming the third victim.Martin found himself with a lot of riddles and no answers, until the Health Secretary's glamorous wife gave a dramatic turn to events. The murderer may have worn a mask, but in the long run Martin was to demonstrate that there was no mask for murder. 'I prefer action and adventure to clues and theorizing - both in writing and reading,' says Andrew Garve.'No Mask for Murder',first published in 1950,is a fine example of his talent for both.British suspense writer, pseudonym for Paul Winterton,a distinguished journalist. From 1950 on, when he ceased writing books on Soviet affairs,he produced a steady stream of novels of varying sorts and varied settings, but all written with a craftsman's skill. Since April 2013,again in March 2015,and in this year too,the UK Post Office has altered it's Pricing in Proportion template, altering it's prices, weight allowances, dimensions and lowered it's qualifying compensation rates too!
