Description

This 'New' condition hardback in its original slip case was published by The Folio Society. It will be sent to you in the Society's undisturbed shrink-wrapping and so we do not know which year or impression it derives from. It is the first in the remarkable Aubrey-Maturin series of historical novels and is arguably the best of them. The book is bound in buckram cloth blocked with a design by Neil Gower. The endpapers provide useful maps. The book has 376 pages. This edition includes 12 pages of colour and black and white period illustrations, as well as carefully researched maps and battle plans that place the reader firmly in O'Brian's historical milieu. The size of the slip-cased book in inches is 9.4 x 6.7 and it weighs 1.01 kg. The introduction is provided by Max Hastings.
