New York: B. W. Huebsch, 1924. Hardcover. Good. [14], 118 p., engraved frontispiece signed "Pach 1923" and 36 leaves of plates; 24 cm. Green cloth spine with gilt spine title; light grey paper over boards with blind-stamped cover title. Top page edges green. This is "revised and considerably expanded form [sic] a series of articles which appeared in The Freeman (New York) during 1923." Published in 1924, the book defines the Modern Period as the years from the French Revolution to the First World War (1789-1918). Walter Pach (1883-1958) was an American artist and art historian who was a leading proponent of modern art. In Good Condition: edges rubbed; cover is soiled; front joint starting at head of spine; pages and plates are clean and tight; frontispiece is crisp.
