A collection of more than 70 photographs by Civil War era photographer Mathew Brady with a detailed and informative text on Brady's life and work as a photographer and entrepeneur. 10 1/2 " x 14 1/2", 112 pages, black boards with grey pastedowns. Photographs include portarits, scenes of 1860s life, Civil War battle photos, and scenes of military camp life. White dustjacket's front panel shows 1865 portrait photo of Gen. Robert E. Lee with his son, George Washington Custis Lee, and Col. Walter Taylor; dj's back panel photo shows wounded Union soldier in Zouave uniform. Boards are clean, square and undamaged. Text shows about a quarter-inch of light age-tanning on page margins that does not extend past the margins to photos or printing. O/w text is clean and unmarked, binding is tight and square. DJ shows same light age-tanning on edges, o/w only very minor surface/edge wear. No tears, no creasing or chipping, not corner clipped.
