With a critical introduction by John Oliver Hobbes. Featuring three coloured plates 'after watercolour drawings by Eugene Paul Avril', and several different portraits of the author. In a full cloth binding. Externally, sound with some light wear and small marks to boards. Spine slightly cocked, some minor loss to head. Internally, firmly bound. Scattered spotting throughout, only heavy to first and last few pages. Good
Synopsis
Mauprat is a novel by the French novelist George Sand about love and education. It was published in serial form in April and May 1837. Like many of Sand's novels, Mauprat borrows from various fictional genres- the Gothic novel, chivalric romance, the Bildungsroman, detective fiction, and the historical novel.
