From the publisher
First line
Methylenediphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) and toluene diisocyanate (TDI) are the most important commercial products in the family of organic chemicals having two or more isocyanate groups in the molecule.
From the rear cover
Methylenediphenyl diisocyanate[MDI] and toluene diisocyanate [TDI] are chemicals produced at a total rate of about four million tonnes per annum. They are reactive intermediates employed in the production of polyurethanes and other polymers which are used in a wide diversity of applications involving many thousands of workers worldwide. The safe handling of MDI and TDI requires close attention to working practices in their transportation, storage, use and disposal. This book focuses on handling aspects, but also includes reviews of medical and environmental issues. There is detailed information on the properties, occupational and release limits and nomenclature of MDI and TDI, and on their analysis. Gilbert International Ltd operates the Scientific Office of the International Isocyanate Institute. The Institute is wholly dedicated to safety, health and environmental issues related to MDI and TDI. The role of the editors in the institute has enabled them to draw upon contributions from over 30 international experts.
