Yellow publisher's cloth, in original dust-jacket, light browning and small tears to edges of dust-jacket, else a fine copy. First edition. "This is a wryly illustrated collection of wrier fables. And all this wryness has been carefully combined to point out the foibles of the medical profession today." Titles include The llama who was a genius, How the jackals got ethics and The turkeys and the socialized sick. Wassersug (b.1912) received his M.D. at Tufts and practiced internal medicine. A prolific writer on health and medicine, he was the author of several humourous medical works, as well as of the syndicated New York Herald Tribune column "You're the Doctor." Kenneth Mahood (b.1930), a Belfast born artist, was primarily known for his work in The New Yorker and Punch.
