vg. 21" x 4 1/2" heart-shaped, five panel UfA-Palast Königstadt fold-out program for the screening of the UfA film "Melodie des Herzens." In 1925, the main hall on the first floor of the brewery in Königstadt was turned into a cinema. The UfA-Palast Königstadt with 1,500 seats was one of the most luxurious and largest movie theaters in Germany at the time. Illustrated with 6 captioned b/w reproductions of photographs of scenes from the 1929 film. Lists actors, director, plot, place and showtimes of opening of the film "Ab Freitag, den 31. Januar 1930 im Ufa-Palast Königstadt, Schönhauser Allee 10, Norden 8067. Wochentags: 5, 7, 9 Uhr. Sonntag: 3, 5, 7, 9 Uhr. Wochentags zur 5 Uhr-Vorstellung ermäßigte Preise. UfA." The movie was directed by Hanns Schwarz, starring Dita Parlo, Willy Fritsch, Marcsa Simon, János Körmendy, Julisca D. Ligeti, and others. Melodie des Herzens was the first UfA film with sound. Dita Parlo played the lead in this tragic love story. Long before she was brought to Hollywood as "the new Garbo," Parlo had a substantial film career in Europe. Music in the film was performed by the Gypsy ensemble "Balogh Jáncsi." Text in German. Near fine condition. Scarce.
