Soft Cover. 4to - 28 x 22 cm.; (10) - 49 - (5) pp. Light gray heavy card stock covers with black lettering on the spine and the front cover and a green tree decoration (a wood block print by Robert LaVigne) on the front cover. Some of the poems in this edition had been previously published in various literary joutnals. The margins of the covers are tanned as is the spine. The interior is clean and the binding is sound and tight. A quite nice copy from the larger print run of this edition. .

San Francisco: The Auerhahn Press, 1960. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good. Inscribed and with a drawing by Whalen on the front endpaper. Very Good. Quarter black buckram with illustrated paper on the boards, foxed at the front, soiled at the back. Square and firmly bound, sparse foxing at the preliminaries, clean otherwise. One of the earliest publications from the important San Fransisco Renaissance poet whose work appeared in Donald Allen's classic anthology The New American Poetry 1945-1960.

One of 15 copies inscribed by the author, with an original sketch and haiku First edition, first printing, one of 15 copies inscribed by the author, together with a signed drawing, and an original haiku "Texas pussywillows? / Absurd! / Moon, anyhow. / San Francisco. 27:IV:60", on the front free endpaper. From a print run of 60 copies in the boards (there were also 1,250 copies in wrappers). Quarto. Original black cloth-backed grey boards with green woodblock illustration by Robert LaVigne, title to spine in gilt and front cover in black. Boards bowed, a little toned and with some faint marks, internally clean. An excellent copy. Johnston, Auerhahn, 6.
