The second edition.Complete in two volumes.An enlightening and sympathetic memoir on the life and work of Richard Brinsley Sheridan, the noted Irish satirist.Sheridan was a long-term owner of the London Theatre Royal on Drury Lane, producing his own plays there, such as 'The Rivals' and 'The School for Scandal'.Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, Volume II illustrated with a folding plate to the frontispiece.Written by Thomas Moore. This biography went on to have massive influence on the public opinion of Sheridan.Bookplate of Sir William Eden to the front paste downs.Collated, complete. In a full calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with light rubbings to the boards and spines, particularly to the joints, and only a few minor marks and spots. Minor bumping to the extremities. Very small amount of loss to the head of the spine of Volume I and a small patch of lifting to the tail of the spine. Small crack to the head of the front joint of Volume I. Bookplate to the front paste downs. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean with scattered spots to the first and last few pages. A couple of small ink notes to the text. Very Good
