Description:
Boston: Houghton Mifflin, 1928. First Edition. Hardcover. Good. Octavo; x, 299 pages, blue cloth This Iowa-born journalist was a machine-gunner in WWI before winning the Croix de Guerr with the Lafayette Escadrille, all of which preceded meeting fellow-pilot, Charles Nordhoff, and moving to Tahiti, where they combined to write The Bounty Trilogy. These collected writings from his life precede the Trilogy, and give color to the man whose home in Tahiti is its foremost tourist destination.
