Stated First American Edition; A Near Fine book in a Near Fine dust jacket. SIGNED by the author on the title page.
An outstanding copy of this novel lauded as one of the best of the 20th century and awarded the Booker of Booker Prize winners at the 25th anniversary celebration. This fine copy is clean, bright, and tight with only light age-toning to the board edges, minor shelf wear to the spine ends, and a slight wave to the page block. Housed in a near fine dust jacket that is crisp and bright but does show some light rubbing and chipping to the ends, edges, and corners, and a small crease along the top panel edge; the spine is only slightly faded (common for the title to have fading to the spine). Overall, a handsome copy rare to find in this condition, particularly signed. Not price clipped, not remaindered, not ex-library. In a protective mylar cover.

Description:
New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1981. First US Edition Thus/Second Printing. Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. The author's acclaimed novel which won the Best of all Booker Prize winners. In grey boards with red spine cloth. A beautiful copy that appears unread with only a small scuff and bottom front corner, otherwise sharp corners, clean interior and tight binding. Jacket is unclipped($14.95) and glossy with 1 inch tear and to top of front panel and a few nicks to spine ends. Tanning stripes likely form storage to top of rear panel and a fair amount of fading to spine (which every copy I have seen displays due to color used) and a little to edges of front panel.

Description:
New York: Knopf, 1981. Very Good in a Very Good+ dust jacket. Smoke-gray boards quarterbound in brown cloth. Both the spine and the front panel are stamped in silver. 446pps. Stated First Edition. This is an ex-library copy, though, apparently, lightly circulated. A library label is affixed to the front pastedown, a square of dried adhesive is on the ffep, and there are faint tape-ghosts on both boards. There is, otherwise, mild bumping to the lower tips and some dustspotting atop the textblock. That said, the text is quite clean and bright and the binding is sound. The dust jacket, glossy in a new mylar sleeve, is lightly rubbed and has a few short closed tears. There is none of the usual fading on the spine-panel of the jacket. The original price (13.95) is intact on the front panel. This U.S. edition precedes the British and is the true first edition. Considered one of the 100 best novels of the twentieth-century, this book received great acclaim, won a number of awards, and was named…

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence. Description:
New York: Random House, 1959. Book. Illus. by Sam March (dust jacket design). Very Good. Hardcover. First Edition.. Small octavo. Humes's second novel, following 'The Underground City,' both of which led to his being considered by Esquire magazine as having the same promise as two obscure guys named Updike and Styron (whoever they are). Anyway, he met a guy named Leary who introduced him to a little substance known as LSD, and after seriously indulging his fondness for the hallucinogen he became a trifle paranoid and a bit delusional, which pretty much ended his writing career. Humes was co-founder (with Peter Matthiessen and George Plimpton) of The Paris Review. He died of prostate cancer in 1992. Black cloth w/gilt lettering, 184 pages. Mildly cocked, light general wear, in price-clipped dust jacket w/light rubbing, light edgewear, creases to fore-edges of both flaps..
