London: Thomas Tegg, 1839. In addition to the famous Waverly novels, Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832) also edited collections such as this, an early posthumous volume that was originally published in 1802. (In an irrelevant aside, It seems rather odd that six years after his death, his name was not on the Title Page.) Large octavo; publisher's brown cloth binding, ruled, and blindstamped with a wreath (a memorial?) on the front cover. The spine title is bright gilt. Clean text, very bright an supple still; 559 pages, with Scott's 83-page Introduction. Previous (contemporary) owner signature on the title page.Some minor bumping Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Later Printing.. Hard Cover. Very Good/No Jacket.
