Hansom book– printed and bound in the US by Kingsport press Inc. Kingsport Tennessee. The books they make last and they're usually in great shape wonderful product. about the author- Edward Lasker. An engineer by profession, he played the best players in the world and had some measure of success- players have found found his book "Modern Chess strategy" one of the most useful they've read. - Part of the -:Holy Grail of Chess Books-instructive works-ne of a half-dozen great theoretical works in chess, shows principles of action above and beyond moves. Acclaimed by Capablanca, Keres, and other greats. Dr. Edward Lasker, a five-time winner of the United States open chess ... It was renamed ''Modern Chess Strategy'' in a 1945 revision-Dr. Lasker also wrote a number of books about chess. The first, ''Chess Strategy,'' was pubished in 1913, the year before he came to the United States from Germany by way of England.-This book, which is a standard work on chess, received 13 printings in England and eight in Germany and has been published in nine editions in the United States. It was renamed ''Modern Chess Strategy'' in a 1945 revision.-As an engineer, he invented a number of medical devices, including a breast pump for nursing mothers. Dr. Lasker was born near Breslau, Germany, and earned a doctorate in engineering at the University of Berlin.
