Used; Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. cover slightly frayed at top and bottom of spine; average soiling for age; near split at spine; pp. 16/17 brown mark from newspaper; owner nameplate and signature on front endpaper, dated 1900. Pictorial cloth cover, olive green with gilt and brown. 260 pp. with 12 full page b/w plates. The stories of the animal inhabitants of the forest, using names of the Cree Indian language, as told by trappers around the campfire. Picturesque tales reminiscent of Kipling, recounted by Fraser from his years in Saskatchewan.
