Sydney, NSW: Holland & Stephenson, 1949. First printing. Hardcover. Good+/Good+. Small octavo bound in green cloth with plain tan wrapper printed in red. Signed by the author on the title page. Additionally, half-title incription from Sergeant H. H. Shelley of the 2nd Light Horse Brigade to Major General Robert Pollock, a British officer who served with the Australian Forces at Gallipoli. The inscription reads: "To / Major General / R. V. Pollock / from his old sergeant - / H H Shelley / In rememberence of / Holdsworth - Egypt / and au zone [?] / 1914-1915 / Melbourne April 1951". A firsthand account of the Australian Light Horse Campaigns in Gallipoli and Palestine during World War I, the book is perhaps notable as well in that - although authentic - no unit or individual is mentioned by name, the author instead using nicknames such as The Bushman, Tom Blood and Snow (to whom the book is dedicated). Foreward by Lt-Colonel M. F. Bruxner. Corners heavily bumped with sunning to edges, but binding is intact and contents clean with some dogearing and soiling to top edge, jacket worn and chipped at extremities with soiling and an ink stain to rear panel. Overall a good plus copy in like jacket of a scarce title. [8] 9-252.

Less than 100km as the crow flies this area takes in extensive wilderness and the Deua and Wadbilliga National Parks. (The author) set out to test himself. He explains what the unsettled and unspoilt Australian landscape is all about by taking the reader into localities of unique and rare wildlife, falls, river gorges, caves, gold diggings, Aboriginal sites and fabled Yowie… Read More

WINNER OF THE PEGASUS PRIZE FOR LITERATURE AND THE BOOKER PRIZE. Used. Very Good/Very Good unclipped original $17.95 dust jacket. Summary: "The Bone People, first published in 1984 by Spiral, New Zealand. About this book: The Bone People is an unusual story of love. It is unusual in the telling, the subject matter, and the form of love that the story depicts. This is in no way a romance; it is filled with violence, fear, and twisted emotions. At the story's core, however, are three people who struggle very hard to figure out what love is and how to find it. Hulme won New Zealand's Pegasus Prize for Literature (1984) for The Bone People. Then the book went on to win the prestigious Booker Prize (1985).
