Guildford, Eng: Circle Press, 1979. Deluxe Ltd. Edition. No. 118 of 300 copies. Loose Aquatint prints in Folders. Near Fine/Near Fine. 38 cm. Folio. [20] pages text printed letterpress with eight initialed blind-embossed aquatint prints all on Somerset mould-made paper. Loose sheets (folded) contained in two cardboard folders placed into black cloth covered covered boards with titles in silver to the spine. Cloth covered slipcase. Letterpress sheets, blind-embossed prints, folders, and cover are all in pristine condition. Slipcase Condition: Near fine. Very mild fading to black cloth else fine. Each print is initialed by Ian Tyson at lower right corner, colophon is signed by both artists. A very sharp copy. From a limited edition of 300 copies of which this is no. 188. A standout effort from Ron King's great Circle Press. Provenance: To us at auction which was featuring "Property of a Georgia Institution". QUOTE From "A Tribute to Ian Tyson": "The British artist Ian Tyson (1933—2021) executed a vast body of works throughout a decades-long career, actively producing work right up until his passing in October this year. Tyson may have been best known in some circles as a "book artist," given the extensive body of his artists' books. Tyson first published his art through Ron King's notably collaborative Circle Press and subsequently founded two imprints of his own: Tetrad Press in London—which published the first edition of Tom Phillip's seminal work A Humument—and "ed.it" when he moved from London to Provence in the 1990s. Inclined toward collaboration himself, Tyson often worked with contemporary avant-garde poets. Rather than merely illustrating poems, Tyson created abstract visual imagery that responded to the tone and structure of texts."
