New York: Simon & Schuster. NF/NF. 1974. 1st Edition. Hardcover; 1st Printing. 1st edition/1st printing. 1st printing with full number line. Near fine, straight, clean book with no handwriting in it and with the silver spine lettering in fine condition, with very slight edge fading to the binding--as usual--and slight toning to text paper--as usual. There are a couple of very small, very faint spots to page edges, and a touch of shelfwear to the lower front corner; no other faults. The near fine price intact dustjacket is clean, crisp and unfaded, with a few very tiny nicks/rubs at spine fold ends and flap fold ends and one small surface rub with no color loss to the back panel gutter area but with no tears or chips. Quite a handsome example of this scarce in the 1st printing classic. I agree with Robert Heinlein's blurb on this one; it is one of the very best sci-fi books I've ever read, with a gut-wrenching ending. Not a story likely to be forgotten easily. .

Description:
Los Angeles: Bantam Publications, Inc. / L.A. Bantam # 23 , 1940 ----------vintage paperback. This is a 100-page abridged edition of "Tarzan AND the Forbidden City". It is an important book, as it is the first Edgar Rice Burroughs title to be published as a paperback. There are at least 3 cover variants of this title, 2 with text only covers, and this one, with an illustrated/pictorial cover by an unknown artist. Zeuschner 570. All 3 variants are rare, with this pictorial cover variant, apparently the rarest of all. In fact, it is one of the rarest of all paperbacks. Slight spine tilt, cover creases, edgewear, 2 small scuffs to the illustrated lion, tiny (1/4 inch) split to spine bottom, a good copy.. .. Mass Market Paperback. Good. Note: our prices on Biblio are the LOWEST of any of the sites on which we list our books.
