Description

Written by the pastor of the Calvinist Church in Worcester, Massachusetts, this little guide for mothers stresses "maternal duty." Written in 1833, it reflects the strict religious thinking of the time. According to the dedication page, "To my father and mother...this book is most affectionately deicated. For the principles here inculcated, I am indebted...to the instructions I received and the scenes I witnessed, at your fire-side...." As he advises, "Education consists in attention to little things." Book is tight but for a slightly loose front board. Pages are clean and clear, some foxing throughout. Paper spine cover is heavily chipped.
