Chatto & Windus,, 1946. 8vo., First Edition, on laid paper, with a frontispiece, 59 plates on 46 and 7 full-page maps in the text; original blue buckram, gilt back, blue top, a very good, bright, clean copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter lightly age-browned and chipped (not affecting lettering) at head and tail of backstrip. Written from a Japanese POW camp at Singapore, Russell's classic account records summer camps with New Zealand pioneer A.P.Harper, experiences in Jan Mayen and the Arctic, and an expedition to the Karakoram-Himalaya under Shipton. SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION. Neate R98.
